Planning: Aisle Do!

One of the most important parts of a wedding should be the ceremony. Afterall that is when you exchange your vows and officially become husband and wife united in marriage. Before you take your first step to becoming husband and wife, here are some photo inspirations so you make that first step in style:

Planning: Hands Off!

Sooooo, off the usual topic but still something I wanted to share. Recently in twitter news the issue of trademark came up. *A trademark or trade mark is a distinctive sign or indicator used by an individual, business organization other legal entity to identify that the products or services to consumers with which the trademark appears originate from a unique source, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities.

Trademarking, is something that I have had on the back burner for a long, long, long, loooooooong time (psst. longer than I care to disclose). I always new it was a priority and something I needed to do, but in my head at the time, it was not number one on my list of to-do's today! Well, wha-da-ya-know, that thought process changed quick fast when a fellow planner had to experience of the ordeal of building a brand and then having to change her name because of trademarking.

I won't go into details because it isn't my story to tell and I don't know either parties involved personally, but it was certainly a lesson learned. One that I am sure many others following the debacle on twitter also learned. So watching this unfold and reading the harrowing tale, I made it my number one priority to secure the name that I have created and in a constant state of building...JunePlumm Events. And how lazy of me, the application for trademarking was all complete and all I had to do was push the stinking purchase button...smh at myself.

I admit, the price tag was a little tough to swallow but in the end well worth it. So while I am saddened for what she had to go through, I do commend her for how gracefully she handled the situation and am even more grateful for the wake-up call that myself and many others have just received.

So, on Friday (11/6/09) I pushed the purchase button...Finally. And on Tuesday (11/10/09)received the most awesomest e-mail. It read "...found no potential conflicts with your mark...". You know what that means...

IT'S MINE...SO HANDS OFF!!!

Pretty Little Things: It's a Boy!!!

CONGRATULATIONS WENDY!!!!

Two months ago, I had the pleasure of consulting on a baby shower for a very special client. Wendy Hamilton was blessed with the empending birth of her first child and her friends and family wanted to make sure she had the best time ever. Her hostesses conveyed to me that they wanted it to be fun, interactive and personal to who they know Wendy to be. So we put our heads together and viola', a Teacher's Pet themed baby shower was born (psst. the mom to be is a teacher).

Still on high from her shower and about 2 weeks away from her due date, I was pleased to hear that this past Halloween, while you were out trick or treating, Wendy was busy delivering a beautiful baby boy. Isaiah Destyn Bedward-Hamilton was born on October 31, 2009 at 4:52 pm and weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and couldn't be cuter.

So, on behalf of JunePlumm Events, I would like to take this opportunity to send a very very very special CONGRATULATIONS to mommy and baby. May your lives be blessed with many days and nights of memorable experiences.

Below are some amateur pics from the shower:

Planning: What are you Selling? What is your Artisty? What is your Passion?

...that is the defining question Preston Bailey asked a room full of hopefuls last night (11-4-09) at The Tudor Hotel hosted by The Learning Annex. From the moment Mr. Bailey walked in the room he held my attention till he made his exit for the book signing. Preston Bailey talked about his beginnings being "broke", early opportunities, pointers on being "in the business" and discovering and welcoming your passion. One (well three) things he said which struck a chord with me was, What are you Selling, What is your Artistry & What is your Passion?

Seems a simple enough questions, but is it really? Some of us go years before being able to fathom the answer to these three simple questions, while some of us know from birth. Me, I didn't always know that my passion was my passion. I just knew I loved planning parties, showers, weddings...any event I could wrap my arms around. The idea of taking a blank slate and molding it into a beautiful canvas worthy to be displayed in the Louvre (okay a bit much...but you get the point), excited me and made me happy. No matter the event. I loved the artistry of creating a great tablescapes pleasing to the eye while incorporating all the finer details. I loved selling my interpretation of the guest of honors vision. All of this before I realized what my passion was. And to be honest, I don't' recall even delving that deep into it prior to this event. But FINALLY, one day it hit me like a ton of bricks and here we are JunePlumm Events. Catering to the individual or couple looking to revel in the moment, not in the details.

So, I end by saying a special THANKS to Mr. Preston Bailey. A fabulous, wonderful, funny, captivating, visionary. You really took a room full of hopefuls and filled us all with desire and PASSION. And, to my readers, thanks again for taking this journey with JunePlumm Events. Without my clients, friends, family & colleagues believing in our PASSION, the journey would be lost.
