Pretty Little Things: Mason Jars

...don't you? I know Eliana @ By Your Side Events does. I have been talking about these jars ever since I stumbled across them at Johnny Utah's in NYC. These little suckers can dress up a table, light up an aisle, hang from a tree , hold your favors, the possibilities are huge. And even as rustic as they may appear, they will still hold up gracefully on a modernly styled table ,paired with other fine stemware.

Take a look at Eliana's Post HERE to get some visual inspiration on incorporating mason jars in your event.

In addition, check out these other mason jar visuals:

Planning: Are you game?

What have you decided to do with your gown after your wedding day?

  • Sell it?
  • Store it and hand it down as an heirloom?
  • Re-design it into a new dress?
  • Give it away?
Or are you game to Trash it? In case you are not familiar, trashing the dress is a popular trend in which a photo shoot is designed around a gorgeous bridal gown in a not so gorgeous setting. Think about wearing your silk taffeta strapless ball gown in a dark alley and having it tagged (graffiti style). Or picture submersing yourself in a pool while wearing your off the shoulder silk satin A line gown? I LOVE this trend and think it is very sexy. I would be hesitant to "trash" my fabulous dress though but I am NOT opposed to buying a "stand in" to trash. Just for the experience.

For visual stimulation take a look at THIS trash the dress photo shoot I stumbled upon while perusing my blog roll courtesy of Linda Smith Weddings.

Pretty Little Things: Friday for the Fellas - Cakes

Are you having a grooms cake? Do you think it is even necessary? I am still teetering on this one. When you think about the cost of the entire wedding this might be one area of the overall budget that may suggest you pause on, BUT if you are doing great on the budget or there is no budget then it is a great addition to the wedding roster. Especially when the grooms cake is a reflection of the grooms hobby, a play on an inside joke or just a reflection of one of his favorites. Take a look at some creative grooms cakes:

Pretty Little Thing: Card Box

Now here is an option to the Wedding Card Box (which I LOVE...especially DIY versions). These clear versions of the "simple" card box can be found at The Perfect Wedding Box and can be personalized. They are available in 3different sizes and 2 different shapes:

Rectangle Shape:

Octagon Shape:

I know this can be a bit controversial because you can see in it and with all the different color card envelops you might get, seeing the contents may be a bit distracting. But think of the options. This could very well work if introduced with the right supporting decorations and in the right location. I think it is a "Pretty Little Thing". And after the wedding, you can store other wedding keepsakes in the box and put them on display.

Parties: Meet the Bride - The Future Mrs. Outar

I find that in meeting new brides I tend to ask some of the same questions like, How did you two meet, how did he propose and why did you say yes. So I decided that going forward I should share some of these responses with you (with permission of course).

We begin with the future Mrs. Outar. A super fabulous bride-to-be that is as excited as can be about her Prince:

How did you two meet?

We met at a social gathering. We were introduced and it was magic from that moment on. It was like we knew each other for years. Calls, e-mails, texting, instant messaging, trips back and forth, There was no stopping us. This was it and we both knew it.

How did he propose?

The proposal was private, which is the type of person he is. We went for a drive, just me and my boo. Out of nowhere he got down on one knee and did his thang. And yes girl, I had known at that moment what was next. I had that hand out dangling, waiting for it to be placed in its rightful place. On my left hand. I just get jitters in my belly just thinking about it now.

Why did you say yes?
He's is the kind of man who is very kind, patient, loving, fun, family oriented. He never raises his voice and he is always tender to MY needs. He treats me like I'm a rare flower and nothing should touch or hurt me. If I leave it up to him, he would feed me all my meals. I'm his princess and he's my prince . He is the man that I have been waiting for all my life and I am ordained to be with and this man whom I will MARRY

Sweet. We wish this bride and her groom-to-be a wonderful and blessed union. And be certain JunePlumm Events will be there wiping our tears as they say I do!!!

Pretty Little Things: The Bare Essentials

You are in the final stages of planning your wedding but you have to pause for a minute so you can pack for you honeymoon in the Caribbean. What do you pack? Well the essentials of course. You start with the basics.

For the daytime, since it will probably be the warmest time of day, you will need to pack outfits that are of light materials. Preferably something soft and flowey. Lighter colors as darker colors sometimes draw more heat. Consider these as possibilities:

Victoria's Secret: Georgette Halter Baby Doll:

Victoria's Secret: Sheer Mesh Baby Doll:

Oh Cheri: Chantilly Lace Bridal Baby Doll:

Bloomingdale's: Betsy Johnson Pleated Chiffon Baby Doll:

For the evening, it is time to burst into color for more social gathering. Break out the brights and the prints. The livelier the better. Oh and don't forget at least one formal gown, you may need it. You should also bring a cover-up. Even in the Caribbean the evenings can be a bit cooler. Try these options:

Victoria's Secret: Lace-trim Satin Slip:

Victoria's Secret: Pleated Baby Doll:

UnVeiled Bride: Jane Woolrich Glamour Bride Luxury Gown:

Victoria's Secret: Ruffle Satin baby-Doll:

And for the night, make sure you pack your little black dress. It works every time:

Victoria's Secret: Sheer Dot Baby Doll:

Victoria's Secret: Silk Halter Baby Doll:

Victoria's Secret: Plunge Demi Bra:

Now that you have packed the essentials for your honeymoon, that is all you will need to have a blast! Wink Wink. Oh one more thing. You may need this as well...

Planning: How You Like Me Now?

A few months ago, I contracted a logo design company to design a logo for me. I was very specific and upfront with the designers as I knew what I wanted out of the partnership and wanted to be sure they knew it as well. Therefore I clearly stated my expectations, the look I was aiming for , the color choice, the style and feeling I wanted to evoke. I even provided several font, color and style references to pull inspiration from. So, thinking we were all on the same page and have confirmed all the deliverables, why was I given foolishness after foolishness after foolishness. Needless to say the relationship with that design firm ended with me as very unsatisfied and unhappy client.

I soooooooo want to point them out right now and put their name in neon, bold and supersize font, but I will not. I have better things to do with my time than to give THEM free publicity.

Fast forward a few weeks or maybe months, lost track of time, and I was blessed to be introduced to Creative Director, William Ellis. I have to admit, even with the rave recommendations of two very close and trustworthy sources I was still hesitant and concerned that this was going to be another walk down a path of, "here take this". Well to my surprise I was wrong and my sources were correct. Mr. Ellis was given the same information as the previous design company and the same deliverables outlined. He listened, he designed and he delivered a logo that represents, JunePlumm Events flawlessly. Thank you William Ellis. I was even more shocked that I was excited about what he sent on the first round (I am a bit picky...just a bit). Now why couldn't those other folks do that...goodness.

So here it is:

The suspense is killing me, what do you think about the logo (psst...did I tell you that I LOVE IT)?

Pretty Little Things: Ooooooooh Sparkly

What can't you add a little sparkle to when preparing for your wedding? When you find the answer to that, please let me know. But from where I sit, a little sparkle goes a long way. BUT from where my friend Tamika (Mika) sits, ALOT of sparkle goes even further. Her current obsession, and they switch up like the weather is cake bling. So for Mika and other brides mesmerized by the sparkle, here are some options to bling out your cake.

Pretty Little Things: A Private Affair

Conversing with a friend of mine (hi Mika) about weddings and such, she came across some flicks on Essence.com and the wedding of a seemingly lovely couple Shawn and Eric Roberson. I flipped through the 70 page album and stopped short at this picture...

Now here is amazing photography at work. A very sexy shot. I am almost ashamed to look. I feel as if I am invading this couple's very private moment.

Did someone turn up the heat in here?

Well congratulations to them and I wish them many many more private moments. You can see more of this couple Here.

Planning: Pony Up!

A favorite of mine, a ponytail is universal and a great option for hairstyles for your warm weathered wedding. It is simple, no fuss but yet still can be very stylish and classic. And for outside wedding when you may have excessive heat and/or gusty winds, it might be one of the best options that will still maintain that picture perfect and camera ready look. You have options like messy, side swept, chignon, slick back, extra long, just to name a few, one might be right for you.

Below are several options that may work for your wedding day:

Pretty Little Things: Tasty Treats For Your Warm Summer Events

What is a party without the essentials, candy, cake and ice-cream. For your upcoming event, consider these tasty treats as favors and/or gift bag essentials:

Ice-Cream:
This ice-cream cone towel is available in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. The strawberry is mine so back-off :

Candy
I bet you didn't get this in your Halloween basket. Available as individually wrapped candy or lollipop. Now this is a candy craving I will not feel guilty of succumbing to:
Lollipop

Individual Candy

Cake
Let them eat cake...Lots and lots of cake:

Chocolate

Strawberry Cheesecake

Chocolate Cheesecake

Cherry Mousse:

All of the above towels are great options as a bridal or baby shower favors as well as fillers for your out-of-town guest gift bags. And best of all, these guilty pleasure will not affect your diet.
