Planning: Bigger doesn't always mean Better...

I've seen it too many times. A BIG cake, BIG venue, BIG guest list, BIG money, BIG linens, BIG flowers...BIG BIG BIG...but bigger doesn't always mean better.

Think about what is important to you. What would makes YOUR event a successful event. Is it your guests on the dance floor the entire night? Is it having to usher your guests out the door at the end of the night because they just REFUSE to leave? Or is it just surveying your room and seeing all your guests enjoying non-stop good food, socializing and smiling from ear to ear. Whatever it is, aim for that. Cater to what is going to make you happiest and don't expect that just because you have all the BIG items...your guest will think it's a Better event.

  • If you want your guests to dance the night away...Play the music they will love
  • If you want your guest to have to kick your guests out... Keep it light hearted, fun, festive, exciting and moving
  • If you want your guests eating, smiling and socializing... Seat people together whose personalities fit. Consider a heavy hors'd'oeuvres or a multiple course menu. Keep the eye view of your seated guests open so they can socialize. Walk around greet and keep the conversations going.
You know your guests...they are no different the day of your event than they are the day before. So keep that in mind when planning your day. After all you want the BIG event and not the BIG disappointment.

Planning: Sunny with a chance of Scorching

It's summer time and what a summer it is...HOT, HUMID and HAZY. And with all the outdoor wedding ceremonies about to happen, i'm sure you are concerned about the comfort of your guest ( right, RIGHT - wink). Just in case it may have slipped your mind that it is hot enough that people are literally melting in the shade, here are a few suggestions that you can consider to aid in their:
  • Large Electric Fan(S)
  • Paper Parasols or Umbrellas
  • Paper hand Fans ( a cool idea is to make your programs fans so it serves a dual purpose and bypass the additional cost)
  • Bottled water- COLD
  • Sun Tan/Block ...cause why not
So consider your guests comfort when you are planning your outside ceremony. It is your day but you also want YOUR guest to enjoy it!

Parties: The Wedding of Analiza + Herrick

On July 3, 2010 I had the pleasure of witnessing an amazing couple say I-do in Vaughn, Ontario Canada. It was a beautiful sunny outdoor ceremony followed by a bountiful Italian infused cocktail hour and reception dinner. I was literally in tears (as I always am) watching my bride escorted by her brother, mom and grandmother waltz down the aisle and into the arms of her handsome groom. And not to be overlooked, the large fun group of 24 bridesmaids, groomsmen and besties and each and everyone of them were just amazing to work with.

I could seriously go on and on about this couple and their event, but I will spare you the details so you can get a peak at some of the pics:
