Pretty Little Things: Fridays For the Fellas: Put A Clip On It

Let's face it, you have spent and will continue to spend thousands of dollars on your wedding and now you are trying to narrow down your bridal party gifts. You are extremly cost conscious but you don't want to seem cheap either. While the options for your bridesmaids are in abundance, it is usually the groomsmen gift that you feel stumped on. My favorite go-to-option for a groomsman gift is a money clip. No surprise there huh. I know it might seem so common but they come in so many differnt varieties that it just works. Check out these options for money clips:

Planning: Petite Plumms - You Are Cordially Invited...

When you receive an invitation to any event, do you immediately make an assessment of the style and vision of the event just by the type of invitation you receive? If you received one of the following baby shower invitation from PaperStyle, what would you think was in store for you:

Nothing says, "you are cordially invited to a fabulous baby shower..." like super cute invitations. And since the invitation is the guests first glimpse into what is in store, you should always put as much emphasis in those details as you would any other portion of the baby shower. So when you are preparing your task list for your upcoming shower, make sure you include a fabulous invite that implies "you are cordially invited" rather than a come ci come ca invite that implies "hey you come on over".

Pretty Little Things: Sweat the Small Stuff

Another one of the latest trends, shorter dresses can be just as elegant as its longer counterparts. The options for looking fabulous on your wedding day continues to evolve and I can't wait to see where this trend takes us.

Do you feel a short wedding gown is as "bridal" as a longer gown? Would you wear one?

Planning: A Little Bit A' Color

Take a good look at this picture and tell me what you see. Go ahead I will give you a minute......Now, what do you see?

Since you asked (I am sure you did) this is what I see. I see simplicity at it's best. I see the essence of style oozing from this canvas. And I see a beautiful setting infused with punches of color. Do you see it?

Now take another look at this picture. Go ahead I will give you another minute........ I now want you to visualize it with white linens (table cover and napkins). Hmmm nice right, buuuuut...

Do not underestimate the power that adding a little color can do to your bridal canvas. Many brides feel in order to have a beautiful wedding they have to have a lot of EVERYTHING. Then they get discouraged when they realize it is not within their means to afford EVERYTHING. But, a little bit a' color properly placed can take your design onto a whole new playing field that you never imagined your budget could take you. Don't get me wrong, I very much appreciate the pureness of a white design; sexy, elegant and demure. But nothing stretches the visual budget like a punch of the right color in the right place.

How have you incorporated punches of color in your design?

Parties: The Biggest Winners

JunePlumm Events would like to extend a very special shout-out to Nicole Brewer and Damien Gurganious who tied the knot on August 16, 2009 in NYC's Renaissance of Astoria Hall. Nicole looked amazing in Amsale, while her groom stunned them in his Calvin Klein tux and WE couldn't be happier for them.

As Nicole and Damien begin what I am sure to be a blessed union, we wish that they continue to smile, laugh, love and stay The Biggest Winners!!!

Pretty Little Things: Going Somewhere?

Travelling to Miami for your bachelorette bash weekend, or going on a cruise for your Sweet 16 extravaganza? Why not fill these cute suitcases with; appropriate for the occasion swag for your guests. Depending on which size you choose, fill them up with a monogrammed towel, sun block (tan lotion), sunglasses, custom flip flops, sarong, etc.

They will also make a great option for Welcome bags for your out-of-town guests. The possibilities are endless and they are much cuter than the average gift bag found in your local party supply store.

Pretty Little Things: Toss This!

Recently on Twitter, @kelimorris of Little Pink Book Events, Ltd posed the question garter/bouquet toss, yeah or nay? My vote was nay. I personally feel that this tradition has run it's course. However, if the garter toss is your thing, then I would definitely suggest one of these cute options that I stumbled upon on Etsy:

Parties: Meet the Bride: The Future Mrs. Lam (Tang)

Introducing the fabulous Bride-to-Be, the Future Mrs. Lam...ehm...Tang

How did you meet?
We met in High School, on the last day of my Junior year and his Senior year through mutual friends. Though technically we met years earlier in Junior High School but we never remembered each other until we started talking.

How did he propose?
We went on a champagne sunset cruise in the Bahamas. Afterwards we were walking along the beach and he started babbling like a fool, making no sense. I kept interrupting him with "What"? "Huh"? " I don't understand"? Finally he gave up and took out the ring box. In the end, I have no idea if he ever asked the actual question, "Will you marry me" or if I said Yes. I still don't know:)

Why did you say yes?
After 10 years of being together, I don't think there was any question of if I'll say yes. It was just the matter of when I will say yes. But who knew it would take a DECADE!!! Geeze
I have to say, this one gave me a huge chuckle. I am happy to see her time spent with her honey will result in a beautiful union in October 2009.

Pretty Little Things: Petite Plumms- Some Favor-ites

We continue our Petite Plumms series with a conversation on baby shower favors. I am a big supporter of favors. I like the idea of giving your guests a token of your appreciation for attending your baby shower. BUT only if the favor is edible or practical (has a purpose). Who really needs another ceramic baby with the name and date written poorly across the ceramic diaper that serves no purpose. Instead of spending money on those favors try some of these options from Beaucop instead ( LOVE THEM):

Personalized Rice Krispy Treats:

Sooo much to choose from at Beaucoup. I will be sure to showcase some more fabulous finds from infutre posts.

Planning: Good Luck on Your Wedding Day

A recent conversation with one of my clients yielded the response, "I couldn't put her in the wedding because she is married"...I immediately ducked because I thought the flying dragon in the room was going to knock me over with his mystical tail. Myth I said! Total myth, fallacy, superstition, old wives tale whatever you want to call it.

She was still of the belief that if you have a married woman in the bridal party, it will bring bad luck upon your wedding and marriage. Needless to say I enlightened her with the notion that her bridesmaids should consist of people that loves her and are willing to stand up for her throughout life and the exchange of her vows (the short abridged version) no matter the marital status. Naturally, this conversation led me to ponder other "old wives tales" like:

You should never wear black to a wedding
It is soooo okay for you to wear a black dress to a wedding. Thank goodness a little black dress no longer ONLY signifies death or doom. A tasteful black dress can be sleek, sexy and elegant especially for evening affairs.

A Crying Bride
If you cry on your wedding day then you will not have any tears left for the marriage. This is obviously why waterproof mascara was invented.

Rain on your Wedding Day
This one is two fold. On one end it states that you will have a marriage in which you shed many tears. On the other hand rain means good luck. Rain on your wedding day means it is raining on your wedding day. There is no proof of anything otherwise (even though I tend to favor the good luck version).

Bouquet/Garter Toss
The lady that catches the bouquet in the bouquet toss will be the first person to get married. Or the lady that catches the bouquet will marry the fella that catches the garter. No need to elaborate on this one right

You can only wear a white gown if you are, ehm "pure".
HA! (pause for laughter). If you want to wear white, wear white. What is most important in choosing your dress is not your ehm "status". What should be the deciding factor is picking a dress in the color that compliments you and is complimentary to your wedding location and style.
We will continue this review of other wedding superstitions in a future post.
To be continued

Pretty Little Things: Fridays for the Fellas - Boutonniere

I know I am guilty of this myself but women seem to get all the love at weddings. They get the bling, the dress, the flowers and the attention. And what do the fellas get a suit and a boutonniere. You know the little rose bud with babies breath. Picture it, I will give you a minute............ yeah boring huh. A red rose and babies breath?...(shivers). Long gone are those days, now the fellas are getting some well needed shine and the boutonniere is actually a staple that you WANT to pay attention to.

Take a look at these stunners ( no babies breath here):

You go Fellas!!!

Pretty Little Things: Color Me Beautiful

I dare you to spice up your wedding with a colorful wedding gown like these:
From Carolina Herrera:

From Ramona Keveza:

From Vera Wang:

Considered one of the top bridal trends for 2010, more and more brides are considering straying from the typical white or off white gowns and embracing the color. I say kudos to them. A splash of color or full on color in a wedding gown is a refreshing take on where the bridal industry and brides are willing to go.

Tell me, would you consider wearing a colored gown at your wedding?

Pretty Little Things: Brooches

Why, because it is a great way to turn up your dress 6 notches on the fabulous pole without turning the notches up in your budget. I am not talking about your grandmother's pearl brooch (even though a little vintage is always welcome). I am referring to the fabulous dressy and sparkly options like these from Best Bridal Prices:

Let's face it, not everyone can afford that designer one of a kind dress. The one that sings to you and only you. the one that is cut specifically for you and falls gracefully over ever curve in your body. But a brooch affixed to the bustle, beneath a fold, at the waistline or the bow of a sash, to top lining of the dress can really make a statement and change your simple dress to an outstanding gown. Take a look at how brooches accented these looks:

Try one out, you'll love them too.
