Parties: King of the Jungle Baby Shower - A JunePlumm Event

Next to weddings, baby showers are our favorite events. All the cuteness and the fluff and the eagerness to see what baby looks like when he/she is born is so exciting. Well in this case it was SO exciting that the young Prince Kayden made a special delivery a month early (a week before the shower). Thankfully mom, dad and baby are all fine and was STILL able to enjoy the King of The Jungle Theme Baby Shower. Here are a few pics from the wild affair:

Thanks to the following vendors who partnered with JunePlumm Events on Shevon & Kevin's King Of The Jungle Baby Shower.

Planning: Bet they can't eat just one!

The candy station has been around for a while now and I have a feeling it is going no where soon. But do you know that you can pretty much take any favorite sweet or treat and turn it into a fun festive station for your guests. If you would like to implement a special station at your next event dare to venture outside the box and turn your favorite treat into a station your guest will dig and that is different from the norm. If you need a little bit of mind jogging, consider these:
  • Popcorn: You can offer different flavors like caramel, kettle corn, plain, or buttered flavor. Or you can choose and variety of colored popcorn. You do know you can find them in a variety of colors don't you? Oh and don't forget to offer up cute popcorn cups or boxes to go along with it as well.
  • Cookies: offer your favorite variety of flavors like oreos, chocolate chip, hazelnut, peanut butter...the varieties are endless
  • Donuts: YES I said donuts. Serve up your favorite. You can offer your favorite flavors of glazed, sprinkled, filled, chocolate, etc. Or you can use the donut minis for a light treat. If you go this route, try pairing it with a mini milk bar or flavored coffee's for an EXTRA treat
  • Chips: Bet they can't eat just one. Try plain, cheddar, sour cream and chives, ketchup, cheese or you can try a variety of veggie flavored chips for a healthier sampling.
  • Tropical Drinks: Try a station and encourage guests to mix and match. Varieties can include mango, pineapple, guava, orange, papaya. Great option if you are having a dry wedding and want to bring in a tropical flair to the evening
  • Nachos & Dip: do you know how many different types of dips there are...TONS.. Pick your favorites and have samplers in mini cups. Don't forget to make sure each flavor is clearly labeled.
  • Incorporate a variety of treats popular to your culture. E.g: Are you Jamaican (like I am) Then try to offer treats like, tambrind balls, paradise plum, busta, drops, greatercake. The options are endless and it will be awesome for your guests to enjoy the treats you and your family grew up on
There are so many options for you and your event. Don't shy away from making it personal to your likes. And if you STILL can't think of one, they use your favorite candies and group them by either, color, era, or just use a variety and have your guests go to town.

Parties: Wedding Crasher's Brooklyn Style!

Attention Brides...if you are in the NYC area here is a awesome event for you to check out THIS WEEKEND! The event is called Wedding Crashers and it features loads of vendors from my very own Brooklyn. Vendors, from photographers,, videographers, caterers and stationers and the list goes on. The event will be held from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the super cool The Bell House followed by an after party and one of my favorite Brooklyn venues The Green Building.

For more details on this Sunday's event check out The Brooklyn Based Blog Here.

See ya there!

Planning: What would you do?

Let me ask you a question? But before I do let me preface this by saying I am not asking this question to scare you in anyway it's just to get you thinking about your options and whose going to fix it for you.

Now for my questions. Just how prepared do you think you are for your upcoming event? do you have a back-up plan? or better yet a back-up plan for your back-up plan? What if:
  • your cupcakes due to be delivered the day before was stalled and now was held up in an airport in Maine (and your in NYC) and the company cannot confirm when the deliveries will be made
  • your rose petals due for delivery the morning of was now stuck in PA due to the recent snow storm and will NOT be delivered until 2 hours into the event
  • your DJ is stuck and cannot leave his home because his area has not been plowed as yet and he DOES NOT have 4 wheel-drive
  • your venue does not have access to the special entrance door because it is snowed in and that was going to be used for your "surprise" entrance
What would you do? Would you scurry to find other treats to fill in for your cupcakes? Would you run around the city (because YOU do have 4-heel drive) trying to buy up all the roses and start petaling them yourself? Would you rush to put together a 3 hour playlist that will loop for the entire evening that will get people dancing and a 1.5 hour playlist suitable for dining? Would you scrap the "surprise entrance" or rush to put together an new one? What would you do?

If you did any of the above you would have just put yourself into a full on panic mode and now missed the joy of enjoying your special day. If you said nothing, trust that my planner has it all under control and will make the right decisions to benefit the outcome of the event, then CONGRATULATIONS you are going to have a fabulous evening.

The morale here, you are excited for your special event, don't you think you deserve to enjoy it!. Get a planner...let us deal with the "drama" and surprise issues.

Planning: A Taylor'd Dress

I hear it all the time that the cost of bridal gowns continue to increase. While that might be true some places, it does mean you cannot find affordable but beautiful gowns that can work with your event and your style. Take a look at these gowns I found available at Lord & Taylor. All presently UNDER $1,000:

Laundry by Shelli Segal
$375

Eliza J
$588

Adrianna Papell
$178

Theia
$695

Nicole Miller
$750

Do not underestimate the simplicity of some of these gowns. Consider them as a canvas and paint your own picture. Add a broach, fabulous jewelry, sash or jeweled belt or a veil. And it will go from Ordinary to Extraordinary.

Pretty Little Things: Button Up

How about this bouquet for your Valentines Nuptials...

You have to admit, if you are trying to make a statement that you are not like all the "other" brides, you can ditch the red rose bouquets and give this funky button bouquet from Etsy a shot (love that place). I love the added bling detail.

Remember it's YOUR wedding, make it your own!

Pretty Little Things: How Ya Like Me Now...Pt2

I didn't make any New Years Resolutions this year but I DID commit to completing some much necessary business stuff. And how excited am I that I can actually check one thing off my list...well kinda two things.

FIRST
  • If you have been following since the start you knew that my business name was "A Little Bit A' this". The story is I was never really settled with the name but now I am TOTALLY in love with "JunePlumm Events". I made all the necessary legal changes and other changes, but there was one last change required. This blogsite URL was still in the old name because I just didn't want to invest the time in starting a new site and losing followers and starting from scratch. Well I finally bit the bullet ( because now it's an easier option) and changed my URL from "www.alittlebitathis.blogspot.com" to "www.juneplummevents.blogspot.com". So please make sure you are STILL following me (pretty please)
SECOND
  • I updated the design...take a look. I totally love it. I worked with the wonderful folks at Designer Blogs (Thanks Lara) and I couldn't be happier in the final product. So what do you think?
So much more to come. I can't wait!

Parties: Autasia's Casino Royale - A JunePlumm Event

" ...I just didn't want it to be ghetto". That was the beginning of our first conversation. From that point on, I knew we were going to have a good time.

Veronica wanted to throw her daughter a very special Sweet16. She said my daughter Autasia, is a smart, beautiful and very well behaved young lady and she deserves to have a fabulous party. Well they came to the right place. Me, Veronica and the deserving young lady Autasia sat down to put together a fun and fabulous and affair that is NOT ghetto and one that will make guests brave the winter elements to attend. And so Autasia's Casino Royale was born. Take a look at some of the festivities:
